Biography
Dr. Shagrani is a consultant of Pediatric Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology at KFSH&RC joined at Sep. 20212 coming from Riyadh Military Hospital , He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at King Saud University, college of medicine, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1998, he accomplished hi Saudi Board in Pediatrics on 2004 and immediately joined prince Sultan Liver Transplant Unit in Riyadh Military hospital which was the first unit in the middle east in this field .From June 2008-July 2010 Dr.SHAGRANI Joined McMaster University ,Hamilton -Canada where he achieved his fellowship certificate in Pediatric Gastroenterology ,hepatology and Nutrition .Furthermore, Dr.SHAGRANI, spent time at Victoria children Hospital ,pediatric liver transplant unit at London Ontario,Canad .
Dr. Shagrani now working in the field of pediatric liver diseases for the last 17 years with special interest in study of familial liver disease to understand the genetic background and the role of that in personalized medicine for the future
1-He was the founders of GIT/Liver panel which was the first to study the genetic mutations in our societies with the discoveries of many novel genes
2-He was one of the founders for ABO-I Program in pediatric liver transplantation and he is leading it till now
3-He is the PI for the first international clinical Trial in progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis
4-He is one the founders OF NAPPED which is the largest international group to Study different types of PFIC disease on all aspects
Dr. Shagrani is an international speaker in the field of progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis and genetics of liver diseases
He published his work in many prestigious journals in his field including:
1-Journal of Hepatology 2-Hepatology 3-Journal OF CLINICAL Genetics
Dr. Shagrani is a professional player in Billiard and he is thinking strongly that was the mean reason driven his passion to pediatric hepatology which is a hobby for him more than to be a job
