Biography
Dr. Fuat Saner graduated from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz (Germany) and completed his medical training at the Horst-Schmidt- Kliniken Hospital in Wiesbaden. His clinical and scientific interests focus on perioperative care for patients with acute and chronic liver failure and end-stage liver disease requiring liver transplantation. After moving to Essen, he became Director of the Surgical Critical Care Unit at the Department of General-, Visceral- and Transplant Surgery at Medical Center University Duisburg-Essen. His current research investigates the causes of hemodynamic instability during after liver transplantation, coagulation disorder in end stage liver disease and infection post liver transplantation. Dr. Saner has published widely on these topics and has given many national and international presentations on liver transplantation and the management of cirrhotic patients. He is active in the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE, from 5/2018-5/2022 President) and in the national Critical Care society (DIVI) as chair in the liver failure group.
