Dr. Abou el Ela is a Senior Staff Surgeon at Henry Ford Health System, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, and mechanical circulatory support. He earned his medical degree from Mansoura University in Egypt and held various prestigious positions across the U.S., including at the University of Pittsburgh, Mayo Clinic, Washington University, University of Michigan, and the University of Missouri. His work significantly contributed to the development of temporary mechanical circulatory support devices like the Impella 5.5 and ECMO for cardiogenic shock patients.
