Biography
Graduated from Ain Shams University, Cairo (1979). One year of internship (1980), then worked as Teaching Assistant at Pathology Department, Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine 1981. Master of Science (1983) & PhD degree (1989) in General Pathology with special interest in Adult and Pediatric Liver Pathology. Now, Professor of Pathology and Transplant Pathology at Ain Shams University and “Ain Shams Center of Organ Transplantation”, Consultant Transplant Pathologist at Wadi El-Neel Hospital and Egypt Air Hospital
Trained in Division of Liver and Transplantation Pathology, Edouard Herriot Hospital, Lyon, France (2000)
Attended 23rd hepatopathology training course and the 13th Gastrointestinal surgical pathology training course of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology(AFIP), Washington DC, USA (2002)
Member of the “Banff Working Group on Liver Allograft Pathology” 2005 till present, with the goal of producing consensus guidelines for standardizing the assessment of allograft biopsies. The group has produced guideline documents relating to acute rejection, chronic rejection, late posttransplant biopsies, immunosupression adjustments, antibody mediated rejection and Banff consensus recommendations for steatosis assessment in donor livers. These documents are widely used and have increased the uniformity with which histopathological changes in liver allograft biopsies are reported across the world
