Biography

Prof. Mureo Kasahara started his professional career in Hepatobiliary and transplant surgery at Kyoto University School of Medicine from 1996. He also served as a fellow at the Liver Transplant Surgery Service in King’s College Hospital in London, UK in 2002. He is now the Executive Director in the internationally renowned National Center for Child Health and Development in Tokyo, Japan from April 2022. Since 1996, he has been performing the largest number of living related pediatric liver transplants (2000 cases) for children from all over the world. First in human clinical study of regenerative medicine, ES cell drived hepatocyte transplantation for congenital metabolic liver disease, has achieved under his supervison in 2020 at National Center for Child Health and Development. Due to his experertise and international reputation in the field, Prof. Kasahara has been promoted to Executive Director of National Center for Child Health and Development from 2022.
